Spider-Man's Parents To Appear In New Film
Campbell Scott has joined the cast of Columbia's new Spider-Man movie
while Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse and Julianne Nicholson are in various
stages of discussions to also join the production. Scott and Nicholson
(Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will be Parker's parents, who leave
their son an orphan. Parker's parents have rarely been seen in the
various Marvel comic book series and have never appeared on-screen. It
is unclear if they will appear in flashbacks, in a prologue or during
the course of the movie. Khan is playing a villain named Van Atter,
joining Rhys Ifans as the movie's bad guys.
Wachowskis, Warner Bros. Take Aim With 'Hood'
Andy and Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski are returning to the Warner
Bros. fold with Hood, a modern, urban take on the Robin Hood myth. The
Wachowskis wrote the script and will direct the tale, which in keeping
with the modus operendi of the duo, is shrouded in secrecy.
Syfy Picks Up 'Alphas'
Syfy has given a green light to action series Alphas (working title)
from writers Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Avengers, The
Incredible Hulk) and Michael Karnow. Alphas follows a team of seemingly
ordinary citizens with extraordinary mental and physical abilities who
become an unofficial crime solvers, uncovering what the CIA, FBI and
Pentagon have not been able, or willing, to solve.

NECA Acquires Major Majority of Movie Gallery
National Entertainment Collectibles Inc. (NECA), one of the leading
manufacturers and distributors of entertainment-related products,
announced today that it has acquired the vast majority of the assets for
Movie Gallery Inc., which includes Hollywood Video, Movie Gallery and
Game Crazy brands. This acquisition represents an important expansion
for the company from merchandising to content development and
distribution.
