EA Debuts MicroBot, the Cure to the Common Arcade Shooter
Your MicroBot is ready for injection! Electronic Arts announced that
MicroBot, a unique gameplay experience taking players inside the human
body, is now available on Xbox® Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points
($10) and coming Jan. 4 on PlayStation® Network ($10). The new
arcade-style shooter, created in collaboration with acclaimed
development studio Naked Sky Entertainment, challenges gamers to control
a microscopic ship—a MicroBot—on a mission to destroy a
biotechnological infestation.
Marvel Promotes Axel Alonso To Editor-in-Chief
Marvel Worldwide, Inc announced that it has promoted Axel Alonso to
Editor-in-Chief, Marvel Entertainment. In this new role, Mr. Alonso will
report to Dan Buckley Publisher & President, Print, Animation & Digital
Divisions, Marvel Worldwide Inc. Mr. Alonso will oversee all day to day
aspects of Marvel's Publishing division, including advising on the
editorial creative direction, developing new storylines and
brainstorming new initiatives. Additionally, Mr. Alonso will work on
creative aspects of development of larger corporate initiatives
involving Marvel's popular library of characters.
MGM to Handle National Distribution of Weigel's Me-TV Classic TV Digital
Network
MGM and Weigel Broadcasting Co. announced plans for the national launch
of Me-TV, a television network offering classic television sitcoms,
dramas and classic commercials and targeted for digital broadcast
stations, it was announced today by Jim Packer, co-President, MGM
Worldwide Television and Norman H. Shapiro, President of Weigel
Broadcasting. Me-TV boasts a classic TV lineup consisting of "Cheers,"
"M*A*S*H," "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Bob Newhart Show."
'Monsters' Director Stomps to 'Godzilla'
Gareth Edwards, the British filmmaker who wrote and directed indie
sci-fi movie Monsters, is closing a deal to develop and direct the
creature feature for Legendary Pictures, the company that co-produced
blockbusters such as Inception and The Dark Knight.
Fox Plans for Avatar Sequels
Fox confirmation of the second and third Avatar movies scheduled for
release in December 2014 and December 2015.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products Joins With Mimoco To Launch
DC Comics Flash Drives
Mimoco will partner with DC Entertainment, to create a collection of USB
flash drives featuring DC Comics' iconic super heroes and villains. The
character-based collection will lead off with a 1939-era Batman flash
drive - available now in limited run - and follow with a full Batman
line in February that will include Robin, Catwoman and The Joker. Future
designs also include other DC characters such as Green Lantern, Superman
and The Flash.
