MediaConnection Wrap Up - Week ending November 13, 2009
'Sgt. Rock' Moves Forward
"Sgt. Rock," a long-gestating project based on the World War II hero
from DC Comics, is moving forward … by going into the future. Until
now, "Rock" has retained its World War II setting, with Silver and
the studio trying to make a big-budget action adventure movie that was a
throwback to flicks like "The Dirty Dozen," which feature acts of
American derring-do. The change of setting to the future makes the
studio more comfortable about the film's box office prospects.
One in 10 Adult Book Buyers Read Comic Books
Simba Information, which this year published "Overview of the U.S. Comic

the previous 12 months also bought at least one book.
