'Criminal Intent' Has A New Captain
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has joined USA Network's "Law & Order:
Criminal Intent," completing the casting transformation on the police
procedural for its upcoming ninth season.
'Tron Legacy' Writers Board 'Ouija'
Universal has tapped "Tron Legacy" writers Edward Kitsis and Adam
Horowitz to pen the board game-to-screen adaptation of "Ouija."
Fox21, Platinum Load 'Gunplay' for TV
Fox21 has partnered with Platinum Studios to develop a TV series based
on Platinum's graphic novel "Gunplay." "Final Destination"
writer-producer Glen Morgan is on board to adapt the novel, created and
written by Jorge Vega.
'Smallville' Grows Again
The CW's "Smallville" ratings hit a season high, representing
additional growth over recent weeks and a rising likelihood the veteran
series will stick around for another year despite being jettisoned to TV
Siberia.
'Doctor Who' Star Lands 'Rex' Pilot
Popular British actor David Tennant, best known for playing the title
role in the BBC's long-running sci-fi series "Doctor Who," is set to
make his American television debut as the title character in NBC's
hourlong pilot "Rex Is Not Your Lawyer."
Playmates Secures Master Global Toy Rights for TMNT
Playmates Toys announced its new global master toy agreement for the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The long-term deal allows Playmates Toys
to continue its 20-year tradition with the Turtles brand.
John C. Reilly, Mary-Louise Parker seeing 'Red'
John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker are in negotiations to join the
cast of "Red," Summit's adaptation of the Wildstorm/DC Comics miniseries
being directed by Robert Schwentke.
Comic-Con Founder Sheldon Dorf Dies
Sheldon Dorf, who founded the world famous Comic-Con International comic
book convention, has died of kidney failure at age 76. He had diabetes
and had been hospitalized for about a year. Dorf, a freelance artist and
comic strip letterer, founded Comic-Con in San Diego in 1970 after
moving from Detroit.
J.J. Abrams Gets Deeper 'Undercovers'
J.J. Abrams is in talks to direct the opening episode of "Undercovers,
his Warner Bros. pilot at NBC, making it the first he has helmed since
2004's "Lost" opener.
