MediaConnection Wrap Up - Week ending March 11, 2011

Another 'Battlestar' Actor Tapped for Ron Moore's NBC Pilot

The cast of Ron Moore's 17th Precinct is getting increasingly
familiar. First the former Battlestar showrunner tapped Viper top gun
Jamie Bamber, and now Baltar himself James Callis has signed up. This is
the drama project about cops patrolling a town where magic exists
(let's use that catchy pitch line one more time: "Harry Potter for
grown ups"). Matt Long (The Deep End) is also cast.

Paramount Sets Release Dates for 'G.I. Joe 2,' 'Hugo Cabret'

Paramount has set a release date for the G.I. Joe sequel. The movie will
debut August 10, 2012. Paramount has also made official its opening date
of Hugo Cabret, Martin Scorsese's big-budget 3D adaptation of the
children's book: November 23, 2011.

Christopher Egan Lands Lead in ABC's 'Poe'

Australian actor Christopher Egan has been tapped as the lead in ABC
pilot Poe. The crime procedural centers on the world's first
detective, Edgar Allan Poe, who uses unconventional means to uncover
mysteries. The series is set in Boston during the 1840s. He joins Kevin
McNally, Tabrett Bethelland Leslie Odom Jr, who are already locked into
supporting roles.

Disney Picks Up Sci-Fi Adventure Project 'The Runner'

Disney has picked up a sci-fi adventure project from Dave Andron, the
developer of NBC's recent Knight Rider reboot, titled The Runner, with
Marc Forster attached to direct. The story centers on a lone man who is
sent back in time to change the course of history but who also has a
personal motive of saving the love of his life.

The Amazing Spider-Man Shooting in 3D

3ality Digital, world leader in advanced technologies to empower
creative digital stereoscopic 3D acquisition, has been chosen to supply
its systems for the highly anticipated film The Amazing Spider-Man,
which is now in production from Columbia Pictures and will be released
on July 3, 2012.

Fox Pushes Premiere of 'Terra Nova' to Fall

Fox has scrapped plans to preview its new epic family adventure series
Terra Nova in May and will now launch its series premiere in fall, Kevin
Reilly, president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company,
announced Friday. Terra Nova is one of the most ambitious television
series ever produced," Reilly said in a statement. "The cutting-edge
visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of
massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect
of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early
preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their
ground-breaking work."
