MediaConnection Wrap Up - Week ending August 12, 2011

Romeo and Juliet: The War To Launch At New York Comic Con

Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment and 1821 Comics announced today that
they will debut Romeo and Juliet: The War at New York Comic Con 2011.
Stan Lee will be on hand to showcase the book and sign special limited
edition mini posters promoting the title. Pre-release orders are being
taken at the 1821 Comic's booth #1458. Romeo and Juliet: The War will be
in stores the end of November as a deluxe 10''x13" over sized coffee
table book available in both hard and soft cover formats. Stan Lee and
Terry Dougas created the story with artwork from Skan Srisuwan. The book
is written by Max Work.

'House' Producers Tackle Classic Monster

"House" producers Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner are developing a
modern-day take on "Frankenstein." No other details are available on
the project, but Friend and Lerner reportedly have a script deal with
NBC.

'Munsters' Renoot Underway

Bryan Fuller -- whose credits include "Pushing Daisies," "Heroes"
and "Dead Like Me" -- is working to bring an hour-long, updated
version of "The Munsters" to NBC. Fuller's idea is to go beyond the
situation comedy. His "Munsters" would be an hour long and would have an
edge to it, but would bring back all the familiar characters --
including Herman, Lily, Grandpa and the inexplicably "normal"
Marilyn -- while also exploring their back stories. NBCUniversal
Television Consumer Products Group is pushing forward with merchandising
to build interest in the franchise, teaming with AMT to produce classic
vehicle model kits based on the original TV series. The line will be
available this fall.

'The Lone Ranger' Shut Down

Disney has shut down production of The Lone Ranger, its ambitious
retelling of the classic western that was to star Johnny Depp. Sources
tell The Hollywood Reporter that the abrupt move to kill a project that
was set to begin shooting in the fall comes amid clashes with producer
Jerry Bruckheimer over the budget for the tentpole, which was scheduled
to be released in December 2012.
